'Action Duchenne' Christmas Charity Pledge by The Square Shopping Centre

Christmas 2009 at The Square saw Action Duchenne nominated as the Charity of choice to receive donations made by customers, which is collected from Santa's 'pond'.

Cheque presentationAction Duchenne helps sufferers with Muscular Dystrophy (a life-limiting muscle wasting condition) through providing support and information to individuals contending with the illness and their respective families. The charity also actively lobbies for Government funding to help pay for research into the condition and ultimately find a treatment to help those with the Muscular Dystrophy.

Many children and adults enjoyed throwing pennies into Santa's pond amounting to a total donation of £718.00 which was gratefully received by Dawn Thornton, member of Action Duchenne. Presenting the donation is Tom Pendlebury and Debbie Burgess from The Square.
